Sourcing and corrections
Where the figures come from
Entries state ranges, elevation bands and forest types. Where a number appears it is one that can be sourced; where it cannot be, the entry says what is known instead.
Species counts, rainfall figures and measurements are drawn from published work and from long-running inventory programmes in the region, including the all-taxa inventory described in Counting everything. Figures that are contested are marked as contested.
Corrections
Corrections are made in the entry itself rather than appended to it, because an entry is a standing description of a place and not a bulletin. If a statement here is wrong, the fix belongs in the sentence that carries it.
Locations
Named ranges appear throughout. Specific sites, drainages and slopes do not, and no map on this site is plotted finely enough to reach a population by. That is deliberate.
Photographs are credited beneath their captions. A credit is a smaller, quieter thing than the caption and never the whole of it.
